Unboxing: a term that is typically used in the tech world; a term defined in 2006 by The Register in the UK as “a new form of geek porn… where people film themselves unwrapping new products from the likes of Palm, Nokia and Nintendo.” A thing people do when they get a new, hot “tech toy” and document it religiously on places like Flickr (there’s even a Flickr group for Unboxers, with over 2,300 photos to date).
For the purposes of this post, I am going to use the word unboxing to describe what I have been doing with each of the swag-bags I’ve received so far at BlogHer. These were compiled with help from my BlogHer roommate Jenni Collins Brand (@Bastille71).
Fun toys for kids Swag-Bag highlights: Leopard print thumb drive from Ann Taylor, Mr. Potato Head, Leap Frog educational comic book and fancy shaving cream from eos.
Scotch Brite Swag-Bag (and then some… wow); highlights include lots of “green cleaning” stuff from Scotch, a Silicone Bunny Buddy vibrator and love lotion from California Exotic Novelities.
Scholastic Swag-Bag highlight: GAP t-shirt “Born To” (on the front) “Blog” (on the back) — soft, v-neck.
PepsiCo Swag-Bag highlight: SoBe low-cal Lifewater. I can hardly find this stuff when I want it at the store, but me loves it.
Hanes T-Shirt Swag-Bag highlight: When I spilled some G2, I was able to use the bag to wipe it up.

Wow you were organized. As diligently as I tried to keep my swag organized, there was so much that I just couldn’t. On Saturday night, after hitting BowlHer, I spent over 2 hours sorting and recycling and attempting to fit into a suitcase. Thankfully, my husband was picking me up in the van so I put stuff in the heaviest duty bags and made the best of it.
I’ll be attempting to make some sense out of all of it as soon as I finish sorting through email!
[…] thumb drives to “love lotions” and vibrators, everyone at BlogHer went home with some sort of free swag to make them happy. If I were still taking classes from Stuart Michaels in the gender studies […]
